SBMC PEE WEE AA ATHLETICS PROVINCIAL
AND WESTERN CANADIAN CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the South Burnaby Metro Club Athletics Pee Wee AA Team for winning Gold at the Provincial Championships.  The team now becomes TEAM BC and advances to the Western Canadian Championships, August 13 - 16 at Unwin Park in Newton.  Well done boys and coaches!

The schedule for our Team BC in the Western Canadian Championships is as follows:

Friday, Aug. 14, 12:00 pm - Saskatchewan vs. BC - Team BC wins 15-6
Saturday, Aug. 15, 9:00 am - Manitoba vs. BC - Team BC wins 6-2
Saturday, Aug. 15, 6:00 pm - BC vs Alberta - Team BC wins 11-4
Sunday, Aug. 16, 12:00 pm - BC vs. Host (Newton) - Team BC wins 15-2

Sunday, Aug. 16, 3:00 pm - Championship Final - Team BC wins 11-1

2008 CONGRATS!

SOUTH BURNABY BASEBALL would like to congratulate South Burnaby mosquito division all-stars Jermaine Haley, Andrew Jones & EJ Mabone together with South Burnaby mosquito division coaches Willie Mabone, Vince Restoule & Maurice Restoule on winning the 2008 MOSQUITO AA PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (with the Burnaby Minor Braves).  The team went undefeated in the 2008 Provincial Tournament.  Well done!!

Overview of Youth Programs (as offered by SBMC in conjunction with the BC Minor Baseball Association)

SBMC is a member of the British Columbia Minor Baseball Association (B.C. Baseball ).  SBMC offers a structured baseball programme for children and young athletes of all skill levels from ages 5 to 17 years.

Competition is organized into a spring, or house, season from April through the end of June and an all-star, or summer season from the beginning of July to mid August. Fall ball opportunities are also available for some players from the beginning of September through mid to late October. Tiering is allowed at two skill levels during the spring season and three levels during the summer season.

Age for division play is determined as of 12:00 midnight on December 31 in the year prior to the baseball season. (Rule 4). Division ages are as follows:

                       5 and 6 years                        T-Ball

                       7 and 8 years                        Tadpole

                       9 and 10 years                      Mosquito

                       11 and 12 years                    Pee Wee

                       13 and 14 years                    Bantam

                       15, 16 and 17 years              Midget
